About
The Veterans’ Athletic Club (VAC) was established on 12 September 1931 at Stamford Bridge stadium in London. It holds the distinction of being the oldest club in the world dedicated to veteran (masters) athletes.
To mark VAC’s 90th anniversary in 2021, an article exploring the club’s history was published in the VAC newsletter. The piece drew from a 1973 issue of Veteris, a magazine by the Association of Veteran Athletes, which featured a detailed account by the late Jack Fitzgerald. His writing captured the origins, spirit, and key personalities of the club, tracing its evolution over its first 42 years.
